The Maharashtra government has appointed AB Unhale as commissioner of food and drug administration

The Maharashtra government has appointed AB Unhale as commissioner of Food and Drug Administration department after replacing IRS officer Dr Pallavi Darade. Unhale was the Deputy Secretary of Relief and Rehabilitation Department and has been asked to take charge of this position.
As per the FSSAI rules, no person below the rank of 'commissioner and secretary' to the state government shall be eligible to be appointed as the commissioner of food safety. However violating norms of the Food Safety and Standards Act, Pallavi was appointed FDA Commissioner in 2017.
Chief minister of Maharashtra Udhav Thackrey ordered the transfer on Wednesday 12th Februrary and has asked Unhale to join immediately after serious allegations were made against the present commissioner.
